The Transit of Venus

If you have any means possible…watch this event tonight!!!  Venus is making a transit across the face of the sun, something that happens rarely in human history.  Only seven times since the time of Galileo.  And the next transit isn’t until 2117…

It is an important astronomical event as it will help astronomers to know more about Exoplanets (planets found around other stars). It will help them to more precisely determine the size of explanets, but also it will help them to determine the atmosphere of the exoplanet as well.

Check out Phil Plait’s blog, The Bad Astronomer, for more on this.
